Fostering with THAR

Fostering is a rewarding experience, but it does require thought and commitment.  Below are some of the main things to consider before starting the fostering journey with us.

1. You will need a secure room in your home or a purpose built outdoor enclosure for your foster. If you are wanting to foster dogs/puppies, then secure fencing is essential.

2. If your foster is going to have free run of your house, secure screens and doors are a must, to prevent your foster escaping.

3. Transportation is needed to attend routine vet appointment, as well as emergency appointments, should they arise.

4. Communicating with potential adoptees is all part of fostering. You will need to be willing to not only talk over the phone to potential adoptees or via email, but allow them into your home for meet and greets with your foster.

5.Weekly good quality photos and personality updates are needed to help with the advertising of your foster and to fit them with their purfect family.

6.You will need to consider what type of animals you wish to foster and whether they will fit into your housing situation and lifestyle eg. very young kittens or puppies cant be left for long periods of time on their own, so somebody that works full time would not be an ideal candidate, timid and shy cats and dogs would not do well in a foster home with young children etc.
