Surrendering/re-homing options and last litter program
Our Rescue Focus
Our primary focus is rescuing abandoned animals from overflowing local and rural pounds. Where foster capacity allows, we also assist with owner surrenders. When we are unable to take an animal into care, we offer alternative support through our Assisted Re-Home Program and Last Litter Program.
Assisted Re-Home Program
When space does not permit us to take an animal into care, we can assist owners with safely rehoming their pet. Rehoming through a rescue organisation helps ensure animals are placed in suitable, committed homes through our structured adoption process.
Please note: An adoption fee is payable by the new owner. This fee supports Touching Hearts Animal Rescue and allows us to continue our rescue work.
Process overview:
-
Pets must be vaccinated, microchipped, and desexed
-
Owners provide quality photos and complete a surrender form
-
We advertise the pet and forward suitable applications
-
Owners arrange meet and greets with approved applicants
-
We finalise adoption paperwork and microchip transfers
Last Litter Program
Our Last Litter Program aims to reduce unwanted animals entering pounds. Owners surrender a litter of puppies or kittens into our care, and in return we arrange free desexing for the mother. The litter receives full veterinary care and is placed into responsible homes, helping break the cycle of overpopulation.
